Spend Optimizer

The Spend tab is an AI agent that looks at the spending on the bank and card accounts you've linked through Plaid and helps you keep more of your money. It does two things:

1. Flags subscription price increases the moment they appear — no AI key required.
2. Reviews your spending and recommends concrete ways to save, then lets you ask follow-up questions.

Subscription price increases

At the top of the tab, any subscription whose latest charge is higher than the previous one is called out with the old price, the new price, and the percentage jump. This is derived directly from the same recurring-charge detection that powers the Subscriptions tab, so it works immediately after you link an account — no AI key needed.

You'll also see these alerts in the notifications bell at the top of the panel, so you find out a price went up without having to open the tab. Click an alert to dismiss it.

AI spend review

Press Review my spend and the agent analyzes your aggregate spend (top vendors, monthly trend, category breakdown) together with your detected subscriptions, and returns:

• A one-line headline describing the biggest opportunity.
• An estimated total monthly savings.
• A ranked list of recommendations — each with a short explanation, a category (subscription, duplicate, overspend, switch & save, rewards, fees), an estimated monthly saving, and an effort level (easy / medium / hard).

Every subscription flagged as a price increase always becomes its own recommendation, so nothing that just got more expensive slips through.

Estimates are generated by the model from your own transaction data. They're a starting point for your own decisions — not financial advice.

Ask about your spend

Below the review, a chat box lets you ask follow-up questions in plain English — "Where am I overspending?", "What's my biggest subscription?", "How do I cut $50/month?". The assistant answers using the same spend data the review is based on.

What you need

• The price-hike signal needs only a linked Plaid account and a TelepersonLens sign-in.
• The AI review and chat need an Anthropic API key configured in Admin → General. Without a key you still get the price-increase alerts; the review shows a prompt to add a key.

What we don't do

• We don't cancel, switch, or change any of your plans. Every recommendation is something you act on yourself in the vendor's own portal.
• We don't move money or give personalized investment advice.
• Your transaction list isn't sent anywhere new — the review uses the same aggregated spend data already shown in Financial Summary, and the model call is made directly with the API key you configured.
