Claim your company
Verify ownership of your company's Teleperson listing so you can manage it directly — either by self-claiming or by accepting a Teleperson admin's invite.
When customers visit your website with the Teleperson extension installed, they see a side-panel summary of your company — overview, support contacts, and (where available) a call-tree. By default that listing is community-curated: the AI generates an overview from your homepage and other Teleperson users can suggest edits.
If you work at the company, you can claim the listing to take it over. Claimed listings get a verified badge, and only your team can edit them.
Two ways to claim
| Path | Who initiates | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Self-claim | You, a verified employee | You sign in with your work email at a domain matching the company's, then click Claim this company on the panel when you visit your own site. The system verifies your email domain matches and flips the listing's claim_status to verified with you as the owner. |
| Admin invite | A Teleperson admin | The admin sends a one-shot invite to a specific work email at your company. You receive a one-time link, click through, sign in (or sign up with the invited email), and your account becomes the verified owner — no website-visit step required. |
Either path lands at the same place: your account is recorded on
companies.claimed_by_user_id, your role on user_company.role, and the
listing's status flips to verified.
Who is eligible
You can claim a company when all of the following are true:
- You're signed in to the Teleperson extension.
- Your account email is confirmed (you clicked the link in your sign-up email).
- Your email's domain matches one of the company's registered domains.
- Your email is not from a public webmail provider —
gmail.com,yahoo.com,outlook.com, and similar are blocked.
We compare on the registrable part of the domain (the eTLD+1) using the
public suffix list, so engineering.acme.com and acme.com count as the
same company. Subdomains of suspicious lookalikes don't.
How to claim
- Sign in to the Teleperson extension with your work email.
- Confirm your email address if you haven't already.
- Navigate to your company's website (e.g.
https://yourcompany.com). - Open the Teleperson side panel. On the Overview tab you'll see a Claim this company card.
- Click Claim this company. Verification is automatic; you'll land in the management view immediately.
If the card doesn't appear, double-check the eligibility list above. The most common reasons are an unconfirmed email and a mismatched domain.
What happens after you claim
- The listing shows a verified badge in the Company Hub for everyone.
- You can edit the public profile: logo, overview, industry, revenue range, employee range, headquarters, support URL/phone/hours.
- You can invite teammates at the same domain to manage the listing with you.
- Community submissions to your listing's content go to a queue for your review instead of being applied automatically.
First-claim wins
The first verified employee to claim a company becomes its owner. If that's not you, ask them to invite you — owners can promote teammates to admins. If a claim was made by someone who shouldn't have claimed it, contact Teleperson support and we can revoke it.
What if my domain changes
If you change your account email to a domain that no longer matches the company, your owner role is automatically suspended. The platform admin queue surfaces it for review. Update your email back to a matching domain to restore access, or have a teammate with a matching domain pick up the ownership.
